9. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
ChampLink is committed to protecting the privacy of children online. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and take special precautions to protect children under 13 years of age.
Information Collection from Children
We collect date of birth from all users to determine their age. For children under 13, we also collect a parent or guardian email address to obtain verifiable parental consent before allowing the child to use our Service.
Parental Consent
Before a child under 13 can use ChampLink, we require verifiable parental consent through identity verification using Stripe Identity. Parents must verify their identity by providing a government-issued ID and completing a selfie verification. This ensures that only legitimate parents or guardians can consent to their child's use of the Service.
Data Collected from Children
Once parental consent is obtained, we collect the following information from children:
- Username and display name
- Email address
- Competition participation and scores
- Profile information the child chooses to provide
Advertising for Children
For users identified as children under 13, we serve only non-personalized advertisements. We use Google AdSense's Tag for Child-Directed Treatment (TFCD) to ensure that ads shown to children do not use behavioral targeting or collect personal information for advertising purposes.
Parental Rights
Parents and guardians have the right to:
- Review their child's personal information
- Request deletion of their child's personal information
- Refuse further collection or use of their child's information
- Revoke consent at any time
To exercise these rights, please contact us through our contact page or email [email protected].
Account Deletion
If parental consent is not provided within 14 days of a child's registration, the child's account and all associated data will be automatically deleted. Parents who wish to delete their child's account at any time may do so by contacting us.
Teen Users (13-17)
For users between 13 and 17 years old, we send an informational notification to the parent/guardian email address provided during registration. While parental consent is not required for this age group under COPPA, we believe in keeping parents informed about their teenager's online activities.
